Scarlett's Cultivated Serenity!

Hey there sweet Crop Stop Peeps!  Its Scarlett back with you again and this time I have a LO to share.  Not only does it showcase some embossing and mixed media but it also shares my one little word for this year!  Let me show you my page and then I'll break it down a bit so you can go shop til' you drop for some of the fantabulous goodies I used.

 Cultivate.  Yes I have chosen the word cultivate to live by for this year.  No I don't plan on plating a huge harvest of crops unless that is what I am truly called to do, but I really long cultivate a good life with what I have been given - to foster this by growth, care, and, tending to.  If you look up the word cultivate for a definition there are plenty not surrounding agriculture and synonyms include words I am deeply encouraged by (just a little side note encourage is one of them). But alas you are here to learn more about what I did to cultivate this LO. So on with the show.

When I began the page I knew I wanted to have an embossed piece of patterned paper to really play an important role in the layering.  I love how the turquoise paper embossed with the Damask, Serenity Collection (5x7) Limited Edition Embossing Folder turned out.  Be sure to read to the end of this post for a link to a small tutorial on how to get this look yourself.  The felt clouds on the page were also embossed with this folder and in real life they look terrific!  I couldn't even believe the folder worked on felt - it seriously did.  I wish photography lent itself to better details for things like this.  The sun is probably my favorite feature on this page.  I used the Bloom Jumbo Foam Stamp by Claudine Hellmuth with heavy gesso and stamped it on patterned paper.  Once it was dry I used the matching acrylic stamp with  Claudine Hellmuth Yellow semi gloss paint and sprinkled some Ranger Dry Fine Glitter - Thistle on the paint while is was still wet so it acted like an adhesive.  Then I went to town with my mists, including some Pure Sunshine - Dylusions Ink Spray, cut it out, and adhered it to the page.

Once the foundational layers on the page were down it was time to build up by adding my pictures and all the little details I delight in.  The ScrapFX chipboard frame around the photo on the left was dressed up by using some paint and Crystal - Stickles, Ranger Ink Glitter Glue.  For the ScrapFX deer's horns I made my own glitter glue using the  Ranger Dry Fine Glitter - Thistle and painted it on ever so carefully.  Love how it looks with the bare body.  A sprinkle of flowers to go along with my sequins and splatters seemed very fitting for this page - so happy they were itty bitty!!
